wip renders from childhood

Here are the renders from the midterm presentation. These are all wip images that still need alot of tweaking in terms of modeling lighting and texturing, especially the character. She still needs modeling work to be done for the hands and feet.

most recent cg challenge~

Talking about being pioneers, the next CG challenge on CG Society is titled Uplift: Alien Relations.

It asks challengers to "go beyond the simple creation of an alien, and show the interaction between humans and aliens." The suggested books to read in the exploration of human and alien relations are the very first books that I have read for my thesis, the uplift series by David Brin.

Maybe I'll enter this one~

So, some crazy images on CG Society done by Marc Mordelet. The concept is extremely similar to my thesis, but his inspiration was discovering the "true face of his friends" instead of scientific experiments. I was showing this to some of my friends a few days ago and then I just saw that he got on the front page of the site. Woohoo~

He used 3dxmas, zbrush, and photoshop. Here is a render before being composited.

Here is the WIP thread.

The modeling is awesome and the texturing looking flawless.
Some one has commented that the eyes look too human, but it is obvious that this creature is a hybrid, and he needs to have some sort of human characteristics.
It is really hard to find the balance between the human characteristics and animal characteristics.
Hope I can get to this level some day...

p.s. His images are HUGE~~
p.s.2 I can never remember how many u's there are in his title...>_<

happy expression test

I bent the ears a little bit and tried my first attempt to make the happy expression. I have decided to manipulate the no-expression head model instead of using joints.
Here is a test render:

infant head modeling wip

I am finally almost done with the new head model. Here I organized my entire head modeling process into one image. This is Ruru's head in her infant stage with no expression.

test comp

Here is a test comp.
I imported my character into the set and photoshoped some toys.

Here are some toys that I found that serve as a mean of inspirations on how to decorate the room:
